Our Story
Co-owners, James McNeill and his partner, Kristin Gynnild, have redefined modern, boutique hotel hospitality. The couple, who live on-site, handle everything for their guests with true, family-style service. In 2009 James and Kristin developed a friendship with entrepreneur, Sefi Vigiser, after hosting him as a guest in the hotel. One year later, Sefi officially became part of the Principe delle Nevi family as a co-owner of the hotel.
In the 1990’s Sefi saw huge success in the communications industry as the co-founder of ICQ, the first instant messaging on the internet, and has since been looking for the perfect sports-based vacation spot in the world. He found it at Principe delle Nevi. Sefi now lives and works for a few months each year at the hotel, working side by side with James and Kristin to elevate the experience at Principe delle Nevi.
Kristin and Principe’s dog, Lucky, handle all of the booking details before you arrive and personally check you in as you begin your vacation. James, who has a 50 year track-record in Cervinia, including 20 years as a professional ski intructor, will help guide your vacation with a list of tips about how to best enjoy Cervinia. James can often be found on the mountain, showing guests secret spots in the resort and letting them take a spin on a pair of skis from his personally designed, hand crafted line. James’ family is also available to help. Guests can book his son, Max, for private ski lessons that start at your hotel door.
James and Kristin’s passion and warmth has helped them to attract staff from around the world who are here to help you select the perfect wine or take you hiking for the day.
At Principe delle Nevi, James and Kristin, pride themselves on a cozy, down-to-earth atmosphere. They have built the hotel from the ground-up and their own personal touches can be felt throughout, which is the main reason guests select Principe delle Nevi as thei annual vacation spot.
